Maya’s fascination with speculative fiction dates from the night her dad let her stay up to watch The Day the Earth Stood Still. Her short fiction has been published in such magazines as Analog, Amazing Stories, Interzone, Realms of Fantasy, and Jim Baen’s Universe, and has been a finalist for the Nebula, Sidewise and British Science Fiction awards. Her story “A Cruel and Unusual Punishment” was part of the Eppie Award-winning INFINITE SPACE, INFINITE GOD anthology from Twilight Times Press, while the novelette "O, Pioneer" was a finalist for the Sidewise Award. Maya is the author of six fantasy novels, most recently Sense of Wonder Press re-released her first novel THE MERI, a Locus Best First Novel nominee. She is also a musician/singer/songwriter and, with husband Jeff, has produced a quartet of CDs: RETROROCKET SCIENCE, MANHATTAN SLEEPS, ALIENS ATE MY HOMEWORK and MOBIUS STREET.
